About PrimEd

Australia’s leading provider of continuing professional development for the health care sector

Established in 1994 as Med-E-Serv, the company has become a trusted name for facilitating change processes with both individuals and groups throughout the health sector. This trust is built on the credibility of the company, its services and its staff. In 2007, Med-E-Serv was acquired by the University of Queensland (UQ) and in 2009 the name was changed to PrimEd. PrimEd remains a private and independant entity of UQ, allowing tailored, targeted responses to company and organisational requests.

At its core, PrimEd is a sophisticated projects organisation with 68 staff, having completed over 600 projects for hundreds of clients with whom we have worked over the last 15 years. These programs have been delivered both online via the internet and in small group seminars throughout Australia.

As these statistics indicate, many clients continue engagement with us on a variety of projects. Our clients represent a broad cross section of the health sector, and many of our projects require collaboration across the sector.

Key clients include:

  • Peak disease bodies such as Kidney Health Australia, Medical Oncology Group of Australia, Gastroenterological Society of Australia, Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand
  • NSW Health and Queensland Health departments, including Patient Safety Centre, Medical Workforce Advice and Coordination Unit, Office of the Chief Nursing Officer, Clinical Practice Improvement Centre, Skills Development Centre
  • Medical Learned Colleges including RANZCR, ANZCA, RACGP
  • Pharmaceutical Society of Australia
  • Australian Government, including Australian Commission for Safety and Quality in Health Care, Department of Health and Ageing.

Our expertise facilitating complex stakeholder projects is particularly evident in education projects where PrimEd must achieve consensus between domain specialists to define learning goals and design education programs. PrimEd has developed methodologies for managing these complex, consensus-building processes and demonstrated their value in many projects.
